Brief Description: Modern porcelain milk jug Provenience: Modern, United Kingdom Owner: Private Owner Materials: Hard-paste porcelain
Vessel had been shattered in an accident. The owner wanted the pieces to be reattached and a large area of loss to be filled.
Reconstruction was accomplished by dry-fitting the jug with a combination of pressure-sensitive tape and Sticky Wax (low-temperature melting wax). Fynebond (epoxy resin) was introduced into the joins using capillary action. An epoxy colour fill was made by adding Cab-o-sil (fumed silica bulking agent) and finely ground pigments to Fynebond. Inpainting was accomplished with thin-body Golden Acrylics paints and Porcelain Restoration Glaze.
